It was in 1986 that four men from Derby who had earlier joined the National Fleet Air Arm Association in Birmingham decided that they would endeavour to form a Branch in Derbyshire.

Those four men were Harry Wheldon, Alan Goode, Ivor Hall & Roy Pym, and as a result of their efforts the first meeting of the Derbyshire Branch was held on September 29th 1986.

Harry took on the mantle of Chairman, Allan was appointed Secretary and Joe Arneson was elected Treasurer.

The membership of the Branch at the end of December 1999 stood at 34.
